First Lady Oluremi Tinubu expressed confidence that the upcoming National Library of Nigeria will be fully equipped to meet the knowledge-building needs of the nation’s people.

Senator Oluremi, who stated in the course of her visit to the Qatar National Library in Doha, described the Qatar National Library as a state-of-the-art facility that offers free access to knowledge, housing over two million physical books and 500,000 e-books.

In a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady said this world-class model provides a worthy template for Nigeria’s own library, which she envisions as a modern, digitised centre that will serve as a vital resource for education and the preservation of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.

Highlighting the importance of documenting Nigeria’s history, the First Lady stressed that the library will provide the youth with a reliable source to learn about their nation’s past and heritage.

She welcomed the motto of the Qatar library, “Free Access to Knowledge,” as an inspiring principle that Nigeria will adopt.

Mrs. Tinubu’s tour was her first official engagement in Doha and set the stage for upcoming discussions with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. She expressed hope that the talks would lead to partnerships addressing educational challenges, including support for out-of-school children and Almajiri education in Nigeria.
