From Jude Chinedu, Enugu
The Deputy Chairman, Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State chapter, and Chairman of Igboeze South Local Government Area, Ugo-Ferdinand Ukwueze, has expressed confidence that Governor Peter Mbah will deliver the South East for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Ukwueze, who spoke with newsmen in Enugu, yesterday, said Tinubu’s decision to appoint Mbah as his campaign coordinator in the South East was a clear recognition of the governor’s growing political influence, grassroots reach, and leadership capacity in the region.
He said Mbah had the political network, administrative experience and goodwill required to mobilise the people of the South East behind the president’s re-election bid. He added that Mbah’s achievements since assuming office had strengthened his standing among the people, making him well positioned to lead a region-wide campaign for Tinubu.
“Governor Mbah has demonstrated that he understands what leadership is all about. He has shown a rare capacity to translate political vision into practical development, and this has given him a strong connection with the people.

“With his performance, grassroots structure and political experience, I have no doubt that he will deliver the South East for President Tinubu in 2027,” he said. Ukwueze listed infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, economic development, and human capital investment among areas where Mbah had made significant impact. He said the governor’s grassroots connection extended beyond Enugu State, noting that his leadership style and development-oriented approach had earned him recognition across the South East.
The council chairman further said Mbah understood the political dynamics of the region and had the capacity to engage key stakeholders, including political leaders, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other interest groups.
“Governor Mbah understands the aspirations of our people and knows how to engage the various stakeholders. He has what it takes to bring people together and build the kind of political mobilisation that President Tinubu needs in the South East,” Ukwueze said.
He described Mbah’s appointment as a strategic move that would strengthen the president’s campaign structure in the region, adding that the governor’s organisational ability and grassroots network would be crucial to achieving the desired result.
Ukwueze urged political stakeholders in the South East to support Mbah in the assignment, saying the governor’s emergence as campaign coordinator presented the region with an opportunity to deepen its engagement with the Federal Government.
He maintained that the South East could secure greater attention to its interests through constructive political engagement with the Tinubu administration.
“With Mbah coordinating the campaign, we are looking at a well-organised, energetic, and people-oriented mobilisation. I am confident that the result will speak for itself in 2027,” he added.
