In a strong endorsement of youth-driven recognition and impact-focused journalism, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the Youth Coalition for Education in Nigeria (YOCEN)have conferred dual national honours on Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CEOAFRICA, in recognition of his contributions to media development and societal transformation.

The honours were presented during a formal ceremony at Ilobanafor’s office, attended by student leaders and youth advocates from across the country. Organisers said the joint recognition reflects a growing consensus among Nigeria’s youth constituency that credible media leadership is central to national development.

Under the awards, NANS named Ilobanafor an “Icon and Cynosure of Societal Transformation,” while YOCEN presented him with a “Certificate of Noble Prize for Excellence,”conferring on him the title “Vanguard of Societal Transformation in Nigeria.”The groups described the dual honours as a milestone that underscores professionalism, integrity, and consistency in reshaping Nigeria’s media narrative.

Speaking at the event, the YOCEN delegation said the selection followed a rigorous assessment of Ilobanafor’s professional track record, citing his commitment to ethical journalism, courage in storytelling, and sustained efforts to amplify the voices of underserved communities. According to them, his work has helped promote credible, development-focused narratives across Nigeria and the African continent.

In his acceptance remarks, Ilobanafor described the recognition as especially significant because it came from Nigerian students and youth organisations. “I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition from Nigerian students—the leaders of tomorrow,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to national service. “I remain grateful and will continue to serve my country in the best way I know.”

He also urged young people to take more active roles in nation-building, calling on student leaders to act as ambassadors of positive change. Nigeria’s greatest asset, he said, lies in its youthful population, stressing that expanding opportunities for service, innovation, and responsible leadership is critical to the country’s progress.

Ilobanafor further highlighted his role as initiator of the Geneith Health Competition (GHC)**, encouraging students in secondary and tertiary institutions to participate in the 2026 edition. The initiative, he noted, is designed to combat malaria through youth-led advocacy, positioning participants as ambassadors in the fight against the disease.

Concluding the ceremony, organisers said the honours reflect Ilobanafor’s sustained passion for humanity, advocacy for young people, and consistent promotion of responsible journalism and positive societal values—principles they noted align with the core ideals of both NANS and YOCEN.
