A Nigerian business expert and author, Dr. Asma’u Isah Maibasira, has launched her latest book, ‘Facilitator’s Edge: A Guide for Expert Learning Design and Techniques in the United Kingdom.’
The event drew an international audience of educators, policymakers and business leaders. The book was unveiled at a leadership symposium held in London, United Kingdom, under the theme: ‘Navigating the Future: Leadership Strategies for the Knowledge Economy’.
The event brought together professionals from diverse sectors to examine the changing nature of leadership as well as learning and knowledge transfer in a fast-evolving global economy. Maibasira is widely recognised for her work at the intersection of facilitation, leadership development and learning design. Despite her global engagements, she maintains a strong domestic profile as a mentor to young entrepreneurs, particularly women, while balancing her role as a dedicated homemaker.
Speaking at the launch, the author described Facilitator’s Edge as a response to what she sees as a growing gap between knowledge delivery and meaningful learning outcomes.
She noted that effective facilitation must move beyond content transmission to helping learners discover insights for themselves. The symposium featured a fireside discussion, moderated by Forbes Africa founding editor, Christopher Bishop, alongside a panel session with leadership consultants, policy experts and technology professionals, who examined future-ready leadership and collaborative learning models.
The book was formally presented in the presence of senior Nigerian and international figures, including a retired Deputy Comptroller-General, Isa Umar Gusau, of the Nigeria Customs Service, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, National President of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association of Nigeria, and Dr. Ken Giami, publisher of African Leadership Magazine.
Representatives of the Nigerian High Commission in the United Kingdom were also in attendance. Facilitator’s Edge is Dr. Maibasira’s third publication, following Business Geek and Facilitator’s Edge (earlier edition), which have been used by professionals and trainers across Africa and beyond.
