From Timothy Olanrewaju, Maiduguri
The Nigerian Army is reviewing its operations to address recent security challenges, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede announced at the 2025 first biannual COAS Conference in Maiduguri, Borno State, on Thursday.
“This pivotal gathering will deliver strategic foresight, operational alignments and insight into where military and community engagements converge,” General Oluyede stated.
The COAS emphasised aligning kinetic and non-kinetic operations with the evolving security environment in affected regions. He expressed satisfaction with commanders’ discussions on operational strategies, noting their potential to enhance ongoing military efforts.
The general lamented the recent surge in terrorist attacks in the North-East and the loss of troops, urging soldiers to maintain their resolve. He declared, “We must not allow these setbacks to dampen our spirit or diminish our collective resolve to stamp out that which seeks to ridicule the sanctity of sovereignty.”
He pledged to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and community collaboration, thanking President Bola Tinubu and state governors for their support.
