The Chief of Army Staff has commended troops of the Nigerian Army operating in Lagos and Ogun States for what he described as their continued commitment to maintaining security and allowing economic activities to thrive in the region.
Speaking during an interaction with officers and soldiers on Wednesday, the Army Chief said he was in Lagos to personally appreciate the efforts of the troops in keeping both states safe and stable.
He noted that the General Officer Commanding had briefed him on improved security, discipline, and operational readiness across units within the division’s area of responsibility.
“You have done well,” he said. “I want you to maintain that trajectory, and I also want to assure you that your welfare is our priority.”
According to him, issues relating to accommodation, allowances, health care and the education of soldiers’ children would continue to receive priority attention. He encouraged personnel to channel concerns through their commanders with the assurance that challenges would be addressed promptly.
The Army Chief also expressed satisfaction over what he described as a significant reduction in illegal duties among troops, urging personnel to remain disciplined and avoid actions capable of tarnishing the image of the service.

In a major part of his remarks, the Chief of Army Staff praised officers and men of the division for their swift deployment to the Republic of Benin following recent political developments in that country.
“Particularly, I want to commend all the officers and men of this division for the rapid response that led to your deployment to restore democracy in the Republic of Benin,” he said.
Describing the action as the hallmark of soldiering and professionalism, he said the timely mobilisation of troops showed commitment to Nigeria’s regional obligations and military readiness.
He urged officers to remain disciplined, listen to superiors, and uphold the core values of the Nigerian Army, noting that doing so would ensure continued professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The Chief of Army Staff concluded by assuring troops that the Nigerian Army leadership remains open to their concerns, adding that senior officers present were available to take questions on welfare and operational issues.
