Alerte Universal Limited launched its groundbreaking safety technology platform, Alerte, at an event held at Cafe One, Yaba, Lagos, on Saturday, February 22. The app aims to transform emergency response in Nigeria by providing real-time alerts and crucial information to designated contacts and responders.
Founder, James Useghan, outlined ambitious plans for Alerte’s future, including integration with official emergency agencies, micro car trackers, AI-driven safety recommendations, and global expansion. He emphasised the company’s commitment to continuous improvement and making the technology accessible worldwide.
Regional Director, Noah Useghan, highlighted the app’s unique ability to address Nigeria’s emergency response challenges, particularly the widespread issue of delayed response times. “Alerte bridges this gap by ensuring rapid notifications to trusted contacts and responders,” he explained. With a simple swipe, users in distress can share their real-time location, name and critical details with their emergency contacts. The app is tailored to address a range of emergencies, including fire outbreaks, accidents, en route emergencies and armed robberies.
Useghan cited alarming statistics to underscore the urgent need for improved emergency response systems. He noted the high number of missing persons reported in the UK, USA and Nigeria, emphasising how slow response times and the lack of unified systems often exacerbate the situations.
Alerte boasts several key features, including real-time location tracking, community-based alert networks and instant push notifications. The app also stores the user’s last known location, further assisting responders.
“With Alerte now available, Nigerians have access to an advanced safety solution that prioritises swift emergency response and real-time protection,” Useghan concluded, calling it “a significant step forward in leveraging technology to enhance security across communities.”
