Nigeria is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative to digitize its rich cultural heritage. In a strategic partnership between the National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM), the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy (FMACTCE), and IHS Nigeria, a digital museum will be established to showcase the nation’s historical artifacts, artworks and cultural monuments to a global audience.

This collaboration aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa’s Digital Culture Initiative. By leveraging IHS Nigeria’s expertise in telecommunications infrastructure, this project aims to preserveNigeria’s cultural legacy for future generations.

Musawa expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating: “This initiative positions Nigeria as a leader on the global stage while ensuring the preservation of our cultural legacy.”

The digital museum will offer virtual access to Nigeria’s cultural treasures, enabling students, researchers and enthusiasts worldwide to explore and appreciate the nation’s rich history. This platform will serve as a valuable educational and cultural resource, promoting sustainability and innovation in the creative sector.

Mohamad Darwish, CEO of IHS Nigeria, emphasized the company’s commitment to community development and sustainability. “Together, we aim to create a lasting legacy that bridges the gap between tradition and modernity,” he said.

Olugbile Holloway, Director General of NCMM, highlighted the importance of engaging younger audiences and adapting to global trends. “This digital museum will not only preserve our national heritage but also provide a platform for researchers, students, and the public to connect with our cultural history in an innovative and accessible way,” he stated.

This pioneering partnership marks a significant step forward in Nigeria’s cultural preservation efforts, ensuring that its rich heritage is accessible to the world for generations to come.
