The Nigerian Business Coalition Against AIDS (NIBUCAA) has partnered with the Access Bank to promote awareness about HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis B testing and prevention.
NIBUCAA participated in the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon which was meant to raise awareness in the bank’s ongoing efforts to combat HIV and AIDS through awareness creation, prevention initiatives and expanded access to testing and counselling services.
NIBUCAA said its presence at the marathon highlighted the importance of leveraging major public platforms to promote health advocacy and community well-being.
Beyond supporting the race, both organisations provided free HIV, syphilis and Hepatitis B testing, vaccination and counselling services to participants and members of the public during the event.
Speaking at the marathon, Ms. Esther Graham, Programmes Manager for Health at Access Holdings Plc, stressed the role of strategic partnerships in improving lives beyond financial services.
“For us at Access, we exist to make a positive impact, and for that to happen we need to collaborate strategically in accordance with SDG 17, with the aim to improve the lives of the people we serve and the communities beyond the financial services we provide,” she said.
NIBUCAA reaffirmed its commitment to ending HIV-related stigma and discrimination, particularly among young people, nursing mothers and vulnerable populations.
