New Horizons Nigeria has been named the Best ICT Training and Certification Organisation in Africa by CompTIA Inc., the world’s leading provider of vendor-neutral IT certifications headquartered in Illinois, USA.
The recognition, conferred under the CompTIA Emerging Academic Partner Award 2025, honours the company’s excellence in training quality, certification delivery, revenue performance, and student satisfaction across the continent.
At a ceremony held at the Piazza Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa, CompTIA’s EMEA Senior Vice President, Mr. Jason Moss, lauded New Horizons Nigeria for meeting and exceeding expectations in sales, service, and learner engagement.
This latest honour marks the 307th national, continental, and international award received by New Horizons Nigeria and its Managing Director, Mr. Tim Akano, in recognition of their contribution to bridging Africa’s digital divide over the past two decades.
Founded over 20 years ago, New Horizons Nigeria has grown into one of Africa’s most decorated ICT training institutions, offering globally recognised certifications such as CompTIA Security+ (S+), Network+ (N+), and A+, among others. The company also provides professional training in Artificial Intelligence, Data Engineering, Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Full Stack Software Development, Digital Marketing, and Project Management.
Each year, New Horizons trains and certifies more than 100,000 students across Nigerian universities and secondary schools, providing them with employable digital skills for the 21st-century economy. To promote inclusivity, the firm also awards 50–100% scholarships to over 20,000 students annually, including members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
As part of its social responsibility efforts, the organisation recently adopted the Federal School for the Blind, Oshodi, Lagos, where it equipped a computer laboratory with laptops and learning tools.
It also hired a visually impaired certified trainer—whose salary is funded by New Horizons to train about 100 students free of charge.
Similarly, between 2023 and 2025, the company offered full scholarships to over 1,000 students of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, to study Artificial Intelligence and Digital Marketing.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mr. Akano expressed appreciation to CompTIA for the recognition, describing it as “a call to deeper service and commitment.”
“This award is not just a celebration of what we’ve achieved, but a reminder of what remains to be done in closing the technology skills gap across Africa,” he said.
CompTIA’s recognition, he added, reaffirms New Horizons’ mission to make world-class IT education accessible to young Africans, regardless of background or economic status.
The Johannesburg ceremony drew over 400 global CompTIA partners and stakeholders, including policymakers, technology leaders, and education advocates. Beyond celebration, the event also served as a platform for networking and collabo
ration toward advancing digital literacy and innovation across Africa.
