Broadcast journalist and comedian, Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, aka Nedu and the Metropolitan School of Business and Management, United Kingdom, yesterday, in Lagos unveiled a scholarship campaign that seeks to award full academic scholarships to 1,000 deserving individuals.
The first edition of the initiative will commence in Lagos on March 9, 2024, followed by subsequent events in London and Abuja.
Addressing newsmen in Lagos, Nedu said: “Education is the cornerstone of societal progress and through this partnership, we aim to break barriers and unlock opportunities for talented individuals who lack access to quality education.
“This scholarship drive represents our collective commitment to fostering a brighter future for our communities and empowering individuals to realise their full potential.”
He said the scholarship drive will prioritise candidates who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential and a strong commitment to making a positive impact in their communities.
By providing full academic scholarship, Nedu said the initiative seeks to remove financial barriers and create pathways to success for talented individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Director of Social Impact Initiatives at Metropolitan School of Business and Management, UK, Dylan Hannigan, said education should be accessible to all, regardless of socio-economic status or background.
“Through this scholarship drive, we are proud to partner Nedu to empower deserving individuals with the resources they need to pursue their educational aspirations and contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.
The Lagos launch will feature keynote addresses from Nedu and project partners, auctions of art and other items to raise money for the drive, and other activities aimed at raising awareness and garnering support for the initiative.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the selection criteria, application process, and impact of the scholarships. It is also designed to give key stakeholders, philanthropists and donors to engage for a worthy cause.
