Former Senate Leader Ali Ndume has congratulated Reverend Dr Amos Musa Mohzo on his re-election as President of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN), describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his leadership and dedication to service.

Reverend Mohzo, who first assumed leadership of COCIN in 2021, was returned for a new four-year term last week following what Ndume described as “a clear vote of confidence” from the church community.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Ndume, who hails from Gwoza in Borno South Senatorial District, where the COCIN President also began his career, commended Mohzo for his humility, integrity, and lifelong commitment to building peace through faith.

“I have known you over the years as a humble and God-fearing man, which explains your divine calling,” Ndume said. “Your journey from teacher to COCIN Deputy General Secretary, then General Secretary, Vice President, and now President, is marked by excellence and grace.”

The lawmaker lauded Mohzo’s contributions to education and moral development in Gwoza and beyond, noting that his “unassuming nature and record of service” have made him a respected figure within and outside the church.

“Your re-election is a testament to your diligence and the trust you have earned among your peers in the vineyard of the Lord,” Ndume added. “It affirms the biblical truth that those who humble themselves shall be exalted.”

He further urged the COCIN leader to continue leveraging his platform to foster interreligious harmony at a time when, according to him, “external forces seek to sow seeds of division among Nigerians.”

“At this critical point in our nation’s life, your experience in managing diversity will be invaluable,” Ndume stated. “I encourage you and other faith leaders to work with government and civil society in deepening mutual trust and peaceful coexistence among Nigerians of all beliefs.”

Reverend Mohzo’s re-election, Ndume added, represents not only a victory for COCIN but also “a reaffirmation of faith in leadership that unites rather than divides.”
