The Nigerian Navy on Monday identified and destroyed illegal refineries in Awoye riverine community, Ilaje local government area of Ondo State and Bassambari, Nembe local government area of Bayelsa state.
The Navy said this in separate posts on Facebook.
The Navy said its Forward Operating Base (FOB) Igbokoda discovered and deactivated an illegal refining site with storage tanks, a pumping machine and a wooden boat laden with an unspecified amount of stolen crude oil in Awoye riverine community, Ilaje LGA, Ondo State.
Similarly, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Formoso discovered and deactivated an illegal refining site with four refining ovens laden with an unspecified amount of illegally refined AGO.
“Subsequently, the patrol team uncovered a storage facility in possession of illegally refined AGO around Bassambari, Nembe LGA, Bayelsa state.
“FOB FORMOSO personnel are currently on trail of the owners/operators of the illegal storage facility,” the Navy said.
