The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), yesterday disclosed that it has developed supercomputer, just as it will on May 1 launch a Nano satellite in collaboration with the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).
Director General of NASRDA, Prof Seidu Mohammed, who stated this at the on-going 2017 Technology and Innovation Expo in Abuja, said the satellite would be launched at the Miami Beach in the United States of America, added that plans were being made to teach Nigerians the process of making satellites in FUTA.
He said the supercomputer would give parallel computing and ease advanced works like image processing and satellite design.
“There is a super computer that ordinarily will cost over N5billion, but most Nigerians universities cannot afford it. We manufactured it here in Nigeria by Nigerians at the space agency and within a minimum of ten million naira, we can afford it,” he stated.
He described the expo as a means of technological advancement, which invariably would lead to socio-economic development and a source of revenue generation for the active players in the science, technology and innovation sector.
