The Nasarawa State Government has commissioned a renovated volleyball court at Government Science School, Lafia, a project executed by an NYSC member serving with the State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
The project, facilitated by Miss Dio Gesiere Angel with state code NS/24C/1931, was commissioned on Tuesday by Governor Abdullahi Sule, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu.
Yakubu praised the Corps member for her “vision, tenacity and selflessness,” noting that the project reflects the values upheld by the NYSC scheme.
“We are so pleased to be here to commission this laudable project emanating from your desire to etch your name in gold as far as the NYSC Community Development Service project is concerned,” he said. “This is a clear testament that you came, you saw and you conquered through this signature project.”
He added that the government supported the renovation because “this project epitomizes the spirit of service and selflessness we seek to instill in our youth.”
Yakubu commended Miss Angel for investing “skills and energy in our future leaders,” and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to sports and youth development. He also called on the NYSC Management to recommend her for a national award, stating that the Ministry would formally propose her and other outstanding Corps members to the Governor for recognition.
