Stakeholders call on NFF to intervene amid growing frustration
From Abel Leonard, Lafia
The Nasarawa Football Association’s (Nasarawa FA) Normalisation Committee is under scrutiny as it approaches the three-month mark without conducting the much-anticipated local government council election.
Football stakeholders in the state express growing frustration and concern over the lack of progress, demanding transparency and swift action.
Recall that the Normalisation Committee, tasked with overseeing and reforming football activities in Nasarawa State, was appointed two months ago with a clear mandate and a three-month ultimatum to conduct the local government council election.
However, as the deadline looms closer, there is a palpable sense of unease among stakeholders who remain puzzled by the committee’s apparent lack of activity.
A source close to one of the committee members, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that even insiders are struggling to grasp the reasons behind the delay.
“I can’t explain what is actually happening,” the source lamented, suggesting that a lack of information has left committee members in the dark as well.
Football enthusiasts and concerned parties are now calling on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to step in and hold the Normalisation Committee accountable. The NFF is being urged to remind the committee of its responsibilities and ensure that it adheres to its mandate to avoid a recurrence of the crisis that originally prompted the normalisation process.
The delay has left many stakeholders bewildered and frustrated, as they had hoped the committee’s appointment would bring about swift positive changes to the local football landscape.
Some members of the football community have even voiced concerns that the delay could potentially hinder the growth and development of the sport in the state.
With tensions rising and the three-month deadline fast approaching, all eyes are on the NFF and the Nasarawa FA Normalisation Committee. Football enthusiasts and stakeholders alike anxiously await a response, hoping for clarity and a commitment to the timely execution of the local government council election.
Efforts to contact the Secretary of the committee proves abortive as his phone number was not connecting as at the time of filling this report.
