Chief Judge of Nasarawa State, Justice Suleiman Dikko, has warned Magistrates and Area Court Judges in the state against indulging in corruption.
Justice Dikko gave the warning at a sensitisation workshop in Lafia on Thursday.
He said that the workshop was necessitated by the desire of the management of the judiciary to find lasting solution to the lingering problems confronting the justice administration in the state.
“Some of the problems we intend to address in this workshop include corruption which has eaten deep into the judicial system in the country.”
According to him, the management of the court in the state will not condone corruption, warning that anyone caught indulging in corruption would face full wrath of the law.
“It is disappointing to see the arbiters who are supposed to deliver judgment without fear of favour indulging in corruption,” he said.
He advised those in the habit to desist from such corruption reminding them that ”it is capable of bringing disrepute to the good image of the judiciary in the state”.
He said he had received a lot of complains that some of the staff, particularly from courts around Karu axis close to Abuja were involved in fraudulent practices.
He, therefore, said that the management of the judiciary would put machinery in motion in the areas mostly complained about to bring sanity to the judicial system.
Also, the Chief Registrar of the High Court, Mr Sunday Bawa, said the meeting was to cement the existing relationship between judicial staff in the state.
Bawa, therefore, urged them to be responsible in all they did to bring sanity to the system. (NAN)
