Reigning Italian Scudetto champion, Napoli has tidied the loose ends of the new contract it will be offering Super Eagles talisman, Victor Osimhen.
According to Italian source, TuttoMercatoWeb, Osimhen’s new contract with Napoli will include a termination clause. The figure is not yet clear, but it will be between €120 to €150M (about N134, 647,023,165 billion).
The Nigerian is however out of contract at the end of next season. His current deal expires in the summer of 2025, but Napoli is desperate for him to sign off on a renewal before the end of this season to avoid entering the final year of his contract in 2024-25.
Recall Napoli President De Laurentiis, Osimhen, and his agent Roberto Calenda were all in Naples at the end of last week for talks.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is likely to try for a smart transfer window this January, according to Italian and European Football Transfer Expert Fabrizio Romano as he spoke exclusively to CaughtOffside via the Debrief Podcast.
Romano said that Chelsea will probably try for a new striker, with Napoli’s Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney again named as the players on their radar, even if they won’t necessarily be easy deals to get done.
Romano still said he couldn’t see Osimhen leaving Napoli in January, meaning Toney could be more realistic, though negotiations have not yet started.
“I expect Chelsea to be smart – at the moment there is no news, after years of many stories about owners, directors, managers, and players. This is the best way.”
