The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Federal Government and leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) for reaching a tentative agreement on how to resolve the prolonged industrial action by ASUU.
NANS in a statement jointly signed by its Senate President and Clerk of the Senate, Okunomo Adewumi and Abdul-Yekinn Odunayo respectively, on Friday, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, noted that the tentative agreement would pave the way for harmonious resolution that would favour the students and restore tranquillity to the campuses.
The statement specifically commended the Federal Government for its willingness to engage in constructive dialogue and listen to the demands of the student body, describing the decision as a demonstration of laudable commitment to the welfare of the Nigerian students.
NANS equally applauded the leadership of ASUU for its decision to soft-pedal and prioritise the interests of students.
