In a bold step aimed at enhancing the welfare and economic stability of its members, the Association of Market Women/Men, Farmers & Youth of Nigeria (NAMWMF-YON) has entered into a transformative partnership with Sterling Bank and The Alternative Bank.
The formal launch of the initiative took place amidst a gathering of stakeholders and dignitaries, signaling a new chapter of opportunity and empowerment for the association’s widespread membership. Distinguished guests at the event included Mr. Tunde Adeola, Executive Director at Sterling Bank; the National President of the association, Erelu Dr. Becky Olubukola; the National Matron, Chief Mrs. Raimi Titilope Juliana; as well as influential members of the Central Working Committee (CWC) such as Engr. Ayodele, Hon. Gbolagbade, and Mrs. Loveth Ayodele. State coordinators from various parts of the country were also in attendance.
This alliance is designed to provide a wide range of support services to members, tackling critical needs such as business financing, access to affordable healthcare, and tools for agricultural development. Organizations like NAMWMF-YON are instrumental in fostering socio-economic growth by offering collective strength, advocacy, and shared resources to grassroots traders, farmers, and youths across Nigeria. Through this partnership, NAMWMF-YON members will gain access to services and tools that would typically remain out of reach for many small-scale entrepreneurs.
Unveiling the welfare package at the ceremony, Erelu Dr. Becky Olubukola highlighted the group’s ongoing commitment to its members: “Our vision is to create a supportive ecosystem where every member has the opportunity to thrive,” she said. “This partnership is a significant step towards realizing that vision.”
Among the standout features of the welfare initiative is a zero-charge bank account, giving members the ability to carry out financial transactions without incurring fees. Mr. Tunde Adeola underscored Sterling Bank’s dedication to making banking more accessible: “We believe that access to banking services should not be a burden, but rather a tool for empowerment. By eliminating fees and charges, we are encouraging more people to save and invest in their future.”
Other benefits include the availability of single-digit interest loans tailored for small businesses, agricultural support tools and mechanization services, student financial aid, empowerment programs for artisans, as well as initiatives that support ownership of tricycles and electric vehicles (EVs). Healthcare also remains a cornerstone of the partnership.
Chief Mrs. Raimi Titilope Juliana voiced her support for the healthcare benefits, especially the health insurance offering: “Health is wealth, and we want to ensure that our members have access to quality healthcare when they need it most. This health insurance package will provide peace of mind and protect our members from financial hardship due to medical expenses.”
The collaboration is poised to reshape how grassroots traders, farmers, and youth access essential financial and social services, creating a ripple effect of economic empowerment and enhanced quality of life throughout the association’s network.
