The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, has sought a strategic partnership with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to strengthen agricultural entrepreneurship, promote food security and provide sustainable livelihoods for retiring military personnel.
The Commandant of NAFRC, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking during the visit, AVM Ilo, said the proposed collaboration would enhance the Centre’s capacity to equip retiring members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies with practical agricultural skills to enable them to become self-reliant after active service.
He commended the minister for receiving the delegation and reaffirmed NAFRC’s commitment to preparing retiring personnel for productive civilian life through vocational and entrepreneurial training programmes.
According to the commandant, agriculture has emerged as one of the Centre’s most sought-after training areas, with nearly 80 per cent of participants indicating interest in agricultural entrepreneurship.
