The Nigerian Air Force has reiterated its determination to maintain decisive and relentless air attacks against terrorist elements in the North-East.
The Air Officer Commanding (AOC) Tactical Air Command(TAC) Air Vice Marshal Michael Ekwueme
gave the assurance during his maiden operational visit to the Nigerian Air Force Base, Maiduguri, charging the troops to be constantly ready operationally for attacks against terrorist hideout in the North East.
He stressed that regular assessment of operational readiness is vital to the success of missions in the North-East, adding that sustained vigilance and adaptability are critical to defeating terrorist threats in the region.
The visit, according to the NAF, aligns with the vision of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, to sustain high operational tempo and ensure continued effectiveness of air operations in ongoing counter-terrorism campaigns.
AVM Ekwueme, described NAF Base Maiduguri as a strategic hub for airpower projection in support of Operation HADIN KAI.
During the visit, the AOC received comprehensive operational briefs on current air missions, force posture and base defence architecture.
The Air Component Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, Air Commodore Mohammed Buba Ahmed, briefed him on ongoing air operations, while the Commander, 105 Composite Group, Group Captain KO Nwachukwu, presented the Base Defence Brief.
Air Vice Marshal Ekwueme also inspected key operational and support facilities at the base to assess their readiness and capacity to sustain high-tempo combat operations.

He noted that the inspections were part of efforts to ensure optimal operational effectiveness and mission sustainability within the command.
Addressing officers, airmen and airwomen during an interaction, the AOC charged personnel to remain professional, disciplined and focused on their mission objectives.
He assured them of the Nigerian Air Force’s continued commitment to their welfare, stressing that motivated and well-supported personnel are essential to operational success.
The visit, the NAF said, reinforced command presence in the theatre of operations and reaffirmed the Service’s resolve to deliver sustained and responsive airpower in support of joint military operations.
The Nigerian Air Force further emphasised its commitment to working with sister services and other security agencies to restore lasting peace and stability to the North-East region.
The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, had recently reiterated its commitment to further degrade the fighting capacity of terrorists, as it was in 2025.
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, made this known during a parley for NAF Veterans alongside the 2025 Base Annual Social-Cultural Activities, BASA, in Maiduguri.
Air Marshal Aneke said NAF remained resolute in projecting decisive airpower in support of surface forces in the ongoing fight against insurgency in the North-east.
