The Network Against Corruption and Trafficking (NACAT) has vowed to expose all forms of corruption and ensure that Nigeria is free to pursue development under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of the federal government.

The South-South Coordinator of NACAT, Mr Michael Ukanga Ekpo, stated this during a press briefing in Uyo on Sunday to mark the inauguration of the South-South office of the organisation. He clarified that they were not out to witch-hunt anybody, as widely claimed on social media.

He noted that corruption has eaten deep into the fabric of the nation and promised to eliminate it by exposing the activities of corrupt leaders and setting a fresh template for a new Nigeria led by President Bola Tinubu.

He listed the core values of the anti-corruption organisation to include integrity, justice and equity, diversity and inclusion, as well as innovation and creativity.

Ekpo disabused the minds of the public of rumours that the group was paid to attack and tarnish the reputation of former governor Udom Emmanuel, adding that the agency will always collaborate with relevant anti-corruption bodies such as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on any corruption issue raised against public officers for accountability.

“This is a fight against corruption, for a better Nigeria, accountability, and transparency, where we make our leaders understand that we place them in those positions of leadership for the good of all. They are accountable and responsible to the people, not to themselves, their families, or any cabal.

“As an agency, we are going all out to bring down this enemy of ours called corruption.”

Ekpo said corruption remains the reason for the nation’s failed institutions such as the education and healthcare systems, youth unemployment, and other vices, adding that the time has come for Nigerians to take their destinies into their own hands.

“As Nigerians, we have one common enemy—corruption. It is the reason behind our failed educational system, healthcare, youth unemployment, among others.

“I implore us all to join forces together as we tackle this great enemy.”
