Members of the Phase II Ex-Agitators of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) have threatened to shut down the Utorogun Gas Plant following what they alleged as hijack of N320 million purportedly released to the ex-agitators in the Niger Delta region.
The group said the money was meant for all the members, but was hijacked by only six ex-agitators from Ekianwuru camp in Bayelsa State.
They therefore petitioned President Bola Tinubu and the interim administrator of PAP, Barry Ndiomu, to intervene by prevailing on the six hijackers to release the money for all of them to share.
Addressing journalists, leaders of the group from Edo, Delta and Bayelsa states vowed to shutdown the Utorogun Gas Plant if their demand was not met in the next 14 days.
In the joint press briefing by the chairmen of the group from the three states Solomon Adu (Delta), London Gbuke (Edo) and Julius Belemu (Bayelsa) accused Mr. Ndiomu of poor handling of affairs of ex-agitators in the Niger Delta region for the money to have been hijacked by few persons.
The group leaders said they have been at the forefront of the struggle for the money but lamented that Ndiomu was doing nothing about the present situation.
Expressing their displeasure, the Phase ll ex-agitators insisted that the reason given by the hijackers of going to court to ensure the money was released was irrational and unacceptable.
