Senator-elect for Imo North Senatorial District, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu, has said his re-election into the Senate is victory for the South East geo-political zone.
Uwajumogu, who emerged at the weekend, after the election, which started on February 23, was concluded through a supplementary poll, thanked the people of Okigwe zone for re-electing him to the senate, and promised to attract monumental infrastructure projects and empowerment to the zone.
His election has brightened the chances of the South East to head the senate.
The Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Returning Officer for Imo North senatorial district (Okigwe Zone), Prof. D. O. Ohajianya, after collation of the final results from the local government areas, declared Uwajumogu duly elected in the rerun election, held last Saturday.
Prof. Ohajianya said Uwajumogu, who is the senator currently representing Okigwe zone in the National Assembly, polled 57,938, the highest number of votes to emerge the winner, defeating his closest rival, Patrick Ndubueze of the PDP, who polled 26,405 votes.
