Governor of Rivers State Siminalayi Fubara has stated that his administration is prioritising policies that would maximise the potentials of the youths.

The governor stated this on Tuesday, at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai, Tai Local Government Area during the swearing in ceremony of 2024 Batch A Stream 1 Corps members deployed to Rivers State.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau, office of the Secretary to the State Government, Samson Dede, the governor commended the NYSC scheme for the positive impacts it is making in the nation’s quest for rapid development.

He assured the Corps members of his administration’s commitment in supporting them to achieve the mandate of uniting and integrating the nation.

The governor expressed optimism that with the support of the NYSC through Corps members, his social contract with the people of the State to lift them out of poverty and provide world class infrastructure for the use of the people, would be achieved.

Earlier, the Coordinator, NYSC, Rivers State, Mr George Mfongang, had urged the Corps members to be in the forefront of the nation’s development by being hardworking, disciplined and morally sound.

He commended the Corps members for their passion and enthusiasm in imbibing the lessons of the orientation exercise and charged them to keep it in order to uplift themselves in particular and society at large.

Mr Mfongang concluded by thanking governor Fubara for his unflinching commitment in ensuring the security and welfare of Corps members in the state, especially the payment of state allowance to them.

A total of 1,585 Corps members made up of 819 males and 766 females took the oath of allegiance at occasion which was administered by Justice Ibiwengi Roseline Minakiri.
