Dr. Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, has reiterated that the governor remains resolute in making life more meaningful for the people.
According to him, some of the governor’s recent achievements, which are eliciting a wave of excitement in the state, include the commissioning of the potato tissue culture laboratory, Mado-Tudun water scheme and flaging-off of 500 truckloads of subsidized fertilizer.

Bere said: “Leadership is not measured by the loudness of political rhetoric or the volume of promises made. Rather, it is defined by the ability to formulate policies that transcend official documents and translate into meaningful improvements in the lives of the people. True leadership is measured by visible results, sustainable development, and the confidence it inspires among citizens.
“This philosophy aptly reflects the leadership style of the Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang. Since assuming office, Gov. Mutfwang has remained steadfast in delivering people-oriented policies that address the critical needs of Plateau citizens.
“His administration understands that the people desire security, improved agricultural productivity, quality infrastructure, reliable water supply, accessible healthcare, quality education, economic opportunities, and sustainable development. Beyond identifying these priorities, the administration has consistently taken practical steps to meet these demand.
“Governor Mutfwang on Friday July 10, 2026 commissioned and flagged-off strategic projects across Mangu, Jos South, and Jos North Local Government Areas, which demonstrate his administration’s unwavering commitment to inclusive development and shared prosperity.
“In Mangu Local Government Area, Governor Mutfwang commissioned the long-awaited Plateau Potato Value Chain Project alongside a modern Tissue Culture Laboratory and flagged off the distribution of improved Plateau potato seedlings and other agricultural inputs. These projects represent a major milestone in the state’s agricultural transformation agenda.
“The Potato Value Chain Project is designed to reposition Plateau State from merely producing raw potatoes to becoming Nigeria’s foremost hub for potato processing, seed multiplication, and value addition. Equipped with a state-of-the-art training centre, tissue culture laboratory, and processing facility, the project will significantly improve seed quality, promote mechanised agriculture, increase productivity, create employment opportunities, expand market access, and boost farmers’ incomes.
“More importantly, it will strengthen Plateau State’s position as a leading player in Africa’s potato industry while contributing meaningfully to national food security and economic diversification.
“The Governor also flagged off the distribution of subsidised fertiliser for the 2026 farming season in Jos South Local Government Area, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to strengthening agricultural production and enhancing food security.
“Through the government’s intervention, fertiliser is being made available to farmers at highly subsidised rates, easing production costs and improving farmers’ profitability.

“Gov. Mutfwang reiterated that agriculture remains the backbone of Plateau State’s economy and encouraged farmers not to be discouraged by prevailing challenges. He assured them that his administration would continue to provide improved seedlings, fertilisers, modern farming inputs, extension services, and other critical interventions necessary to guarantee increased productivity and bumper harvests. He reaffirmed his confidence that no obstacle would prevent Plateau State from sustaining and expanding its reputation as the Home of Peace and Tourism as well as food basket of Nigeria.”
Explaining that the administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life extends beyond agriculture, Bere added: “In Jos North Local Government Area, Governor Mutfwang commissioned the Mado–Tudun Wada Water Plant Project, a landmark intervention aimed at ending the long-standing challenge of inadequate water supply in the area. For many residents, particularly women and children who have endured years of water scarcity, the project represents renewed hope and a significant improvement in public health, sanitation, and socio-economic well-being.
“While commissioning the project, the governor expressed satisfaction at the overwhelming joy displayed by community members and directed the contractor handling the adjoining road project to accelerate construction while maintaining the highest standards of quality.
“So far, the state government has investing over N30 billion to rehabilitate and modernise the water supply system across the Jos-Bukuru metropolis through interventions supported by the African Development Bank. The giant step domonstrates the confidence that residents would witness significant improvements in water supply within the next twelve months.
“This reflects the administration’s integrated approach to development, ensuring that infrastructure projects complement one another for maximum impact.
“Similarly, at Gangare Community in Jos North Local Government Area, Governor Mutfwang commissioned the Gangare Development Project, comprising a modern Primary Health Care Centre and the Government Secondary School Gangare Hall. Executed by the Presidential Implementation Committee on Technology Transfer (PICTT), these facilities will significantly improve access to quality healthcare, strengthen educational infrastructure, and promote community development.
“These projects are clear evidence that the Mutfwang administration is focused on improving the everyday lives of citizens through strategic investments in critical sectors. They also demonstrate a governance philosophy that places people at the centre of development by ensuring that government policies produce tangible benefits across both urban and rural communities.
“The smiles on the faces of farmers receiving improved farm inputs, the excitement of residents who now have access to potable water, and the renewed hope of communities benefiting from modern healthcare and educational facilities are visible indicators that governance is making a meaningful difference.
“As Plateau State continues on the path of renewal, Gov. Mutfwang remains committed to building a peaceful, secure, prosperous, and economically vibrant state where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive. His administration continues to pursue sustainable development through strategic investments in agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare, education, water supply, tourism, youth empowerment, and security.
“Indeed, leadership is not defined by endless speeches or political grandstanding. It is defined by performance, purposeful action, measurable results, and the positive transformation of society.”
The Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor further said that “the Mutfwang administration continues to demonstrate that when leadership is driven by vision, compassion, integrity, and commitment, governance becomes a powerful instrument for improving lives and building a better future for all.”
