Mrs. Buratai, NAOWA National President votes quality education as key to child development

…as 105 graduates from Al-Hikma

About 105 students have graduated from the Al-hikma International School, Abuja, in the 2015/2016 academic year. The Director of the School, Alhaji Abdulrazzaq Ahmad, who spoke at the graduation ceremony in Abuja expressed satisfaction with the improved performance of the students in each academic year, attributing it to extra effort of the teachers as well as the determination of the students to better their academics.
Represented by the Principal of the School, Yunus Salawudeen, the Director explained that the improvement in academic performance is a reflection of investment in modern educational infrastructure and learning methodologies that have enhanced the learning process of students.
The school proprietor, however, identified inadequate power, limited infrastructures, lack of teachers’ motivation, inconsistent government policies as some of the key challenges facing public basic education schools in Nigeria. He called on government to rescue the sector by providing the needed support and policies.
In her remark, the National President, Nigerian Army Officers Wife Association (NAOWA) Mrs. Umma Buratai, who was represented by Mrs. Safiya Mustafa, recognised quality basic education as key to achieving complete development of a child, promising her support for excellent and outstanding performance.
Debate, Arabic and English drama presentations were used by the students to pass the message of hope and to stress the importance of education in the total development of a child.
Fourteen-year-old Ummu-salma Abdullahi who was rewarded as the best graduating student due to her outstanding performance, expressed her gratitude to her teachers, for the great academic and moral transformation she gained from the school and promised to be a proud ambassador of the school.
