Miyetti Allah spits fire in Kogi over killing of members

Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has said it was deeply saddened and outraged by the alleged brutal killing of some of its members in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In a statement yesterday by its Kogi State secretary, Suleiman Muhammed, it said the association was angered by the unwarranted killings and described the development as dangerous and unacceptable.

The statement said those killed on Thursday last week were innocent pastoralists comprising men, women and children in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State.

It gave names of the victims of the unfortunate attack as Isiaka Lawal, Larai Musa (wife of Isiaka Lawal), Abdullahi lsiaka, Isah Isiaka, Saleh Isiaka, Samsiya  Adamu, Asma’u  Siuni, Basullube Musa and Bello Musa.

Those who sustained injuries included Husseini Haruna, Abdullahi Abdullahi and Sa’ida Haruna.

“We condemn this barbaric act and call on the security agencies to immediately investigate the incident, arrest the perpetrators and ensure that justice is served.

“The continued targeting and killing of innocent pastoral communities is dangerous, unacceptable and capable of worsening tensions among peaceful  communities.

“MACBAN extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of those killed and prays for the speedy recovery of the injured persons.

“We also call on the government at ail levels, humanitarian organisations and relevant authorities to urgently provide relief and medical assistance to the affected families.”

While calling on members of the pastoralist community and all residents of the area to remain calm and law-abiding, it called on the security agencies to immediately swing into action and arrest the perpetrators.

The statement said the sanctity of human life must be protected at all times regardless of ethnic background, religion or occupation, saying Nigeria belongs to all citizens and every Nigerian deserves equal protection under the law.
