Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has expressed the readiness of his administration to implement whatever is passed into law as the new minimum wage.
Mbah made the disclosure in an exclusive chat with the Daily Sun, adding that the domestication would be done alongside the implementation.
The governor revealed that the payment of the salary award had begun as promised and that it would go on until there is a law for the new minimum wage.
He assured that once the law becomes operational, there would be migration from the salary award to the new minimum wage.

“Regarding the Minimum Wage, our position has been clear from the onset. We committed to our people in Enugu State that once there’s a position that is passed into law, of course, we would not hesitate to begin implementation of that law.
“We’re going to do the domestication and begin the implementation. What we also have done in the interim is to say to them, that we are going to continue to pay you your salary award and we did that in the first six months, but we then said that this salary award will go on until there is a law for the new minimum wage.
“Once that law becomes operational, we just migrate from the salary award to the minimum wage. We are set to get to our State House of Assembly, get them to domesticate that law and ensure that we do the right appropriation to deal with the minimum wage,” Governor Mbah stated.
