The Group Executive Director of Mikano Motors, Joelle Haykal, has reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering “peace of mind” to Nigerian motorists through robust warranty coverage, 24/7 customer support and strategic partnerships aimed at simplifying vehicle ownership.
Speaking on the company’s value proposition for buyers of Changan and Maxus vehicles, Haykal stressed that beyond the strength of any automotive brand, the credibility and capability of the dealer remain the most critical factors in ensuring customer satisfaction.

According to her, Mikano Motors distinguishes itself not as a mere trader but as a full-service automotive partner, offering comprehensive after-sales infrastructure that includes warranty, spare parts availability, and dedicated customer support.
“We provide 24/7 assistance for our customers—from roadside support to technical service. From the day a customer buys a vehicle, whether it is a sedan, SUV, or pick-up, we remain accessible at any time,” she said.

She noted that the company’s focus extends beyond selling vehicles to delivering a complete ownership experience backed by up to six years warranty or 200,000 kilometres, alongside nationwide after-sales support.
To further strengthen access to new vehicle ownership, Mikano Motors has partnered with Autochek Africa, leveraging its digital and financing expertise. Haykal explained that while Mikano focuses on delivering quality vehicles and customer service, Autochek provides flexible financing solutions that make new cars more accessible to Nigerians.
The collaboration also supports the rollout of Mikano’s e-dealership platform, allowing customers across the country to browse and purchase vehicles online—an initiative aimed at bridging the gap between demand and accessibility in Nigeria’s large and dispersed market.
Haykal highlighted that the company’s vehicle lineup spans a broad price range—from about ₦25 million to ₦150 million—ensuring options for a wide spectrum of buyers in Nigeria.
He also underscored the global pedigree of the Changan brand, noting its international design and engineering credentials, including design roots in Italy and German technological input in engine development.
Addressing concerns about Nigeria’s growing used car market, Haykal warned against the risks associated with imported “Tokunbo” (used) vehicles lacking service history and proper inspection.
She said Mikano Motors is tackling this challenge through a structured buy-back programme, which enables customers to return used vehicles that are then refurbished and resold as certified pre-owned units.
This initiative, she explained, provides more affordable entry points for buyers while maintaining quality assurance and service records—offering alternatives in the ₦10 million to ₦15 million range.
On local adaptation, Haykal revealed that vehicles distributed by Mikano Motors are specifically engineered for Nigerian conditions. She explained that the engines are calibrated to handle local fuel quality, helping to prevent performance issues such as engine knock, while reinforced suspension systems are designed to cope with challenging road conditions.
The Mikano Group Executive Director cautioned against the influx of vehicles built to foreign specifications—particularly Chinese domestic variants—which often lack compatibility with Nigerian fuel and terrain, as well as warranty and after-sales support.
“These vehicles may appear cheaper, but they come without service backing, spare parts, or warranty. Ultimately, the consumer bears the risk,” she said, urging greater awareness to protect Nigerian vehicle buyers.
Haykal further emphasized that car ownership should be viewed as a long-term investment, with vehicles expected to last between six to eight years, rather than a short-term purchase driven by price competition.
With showrooms in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, and Port Harcourt, alongside its awRd-winning flagship outlet on Adeola Odeku Street in Victoria Island, Lagos, the company is now expanding its reach through digital platforms to connect with millions of potential buyers nationwide.
She concluded that the future of mobility in Nigeria lies not only in vehicle sales but in building trust, transparency, and long-term value.
“It’s not just about selling cars,” Haykal said. “It’s about delivering trust, integrity, and a seamless ownership journey for every Nigerian customer. It is about peace of mind for the Changan and Maxus customer in Nigeria.”
