The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Tuesday said it generated a total of N1.38 trillion in revenue between July and August 2026, driven by technology-driven operations, improved trade facilitation and enhanced border enforcement.
It said that the Apapa Area Command set historic milestones during the period, recording monthly revenue of N323 billion in July and a new single-day revenue collection record of N28.1 billion on August 18, 2026.
The National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, disclosed this on Tuesday during the joint security agencies’ spokespersons’ press briefing held in Abuja.
Giving a breakdown of the revenue performance, Maiwada revealed that the Service collected N784.65 billion in July and N595.58 billion in August 2026.
He said, “Revenue performance remained significant, with the Service generating N784,656,042,005.97 in July, and N595,581,420,186.23 in August, representing a combined revenue collection of N1.38 trillion over the period. Furthermore, the Apapa Area Command recorded a historic N323 billion in monthly revenue in July, its highest ever, before setting a new single-day record of N28.1 billion on 18 August 2026, surpassing the previous daily benchmark of N20.1 billion set in September 2025.”
On trade facilitation, the Service processed 90,985 Single Goods Declarations—comprising 55,731 in July and 35,254 in August—alongside 8,873 Pre-Arrival Assessment Reports across the two months.
Export operations also recorded notable growth. The Lilypond Export Command posted $792.57 million in export value in the second quarter of 2026, marking a 24.35 per cent increase compared to the $599.60 million recorded in the corresponding period of the previous year.

“On the export side, the Lilypond Export Command posted $792.57 million in Q2, 2026, a 24.35 percent rise on the $599.60 million recorded a year earlier, alongside a 32.27 percent increase in export container throughput to 5,510. Agricultural exports grew to $422.09 million while manufactured goods nearly tripled to $350.67 million, and collections under the Nigeria Export Supervision Scheme rose 9.52 percent to N5.38 billion,” he said.
Continuing, Maiwada said that between July and August 26, the command processed 9,322 export containers carrying agricultural produce, manufactured goods, solid minerals and other items.
In anti-smuggling enforcement, he said Area Commands and Federal Operations Units seized contraband with a total Duty Paid Value exceeding N61.3 billion.
He said, “In anti-smuggling, narcotics, and economic-sabotage enforcement, Area Commands and Federal Operations Units recorded combined seizures with a Duty Paid Value in excess of N61.3 billion.
“Notable operations included the Adamawa/Taraba Command’s interception of goods worth N362.2 million, including 25,295 litres of PMS, cannabis and heavy machinery destined for illegal export to Chad; FOU Zone ‘A’s disruption of a smuggling ring worth N3.24 billion and recovery of N728.98 million in lost revenue, alongside 1,439.9kg of synthetic cannabis, controlled tablets and 22 elephant tusks; the Ogun I Command’s seizure of goods worth N3.57 billion, dominated by rice, sugar and cannabis; and the Seme Command’s interception of expired noodles, rice, cannabis and 310,000 sticks of cigarettes worth N365.2 million.”
Maiwada emphasised that inter-agency collaboration and technology-driven enforcement remain key drivers of the Service’s growing contributions to national security and economic stability.
