MICRODIA has entered the Nigerian electronics market through a strategic distribution partnership with MyHomeEtal Limited.

The agreement, finalised in late 2025 and formally announced in Lagos, positions MyHomeEtal as MICRODIA’s official distributor in Nigeria, opening the door to a new range of premiuma, safety-focused mobile accessories designed to meet the country’s fast-growing digital needs. The collaboration also signals the beginning of MICRODIA’s broader expansion strategy across Africa.

Founded in 1991 in San Jose, California, MICRODIA has built an international reputation for engineering high-performance consumer electronics and charging solutions. Through the partnership, Nigerian consumers will gain access to products including fast chargers, reinforced charging cables, power banks, protective cases and advanced storage devices aimed at improving device safety, durability and long-term performance.

Industry observers note that the development comes at a time when concerns over substandard chargers, battery damage and device overheating remain widespread in Nigeria’s informal electronics market. By introducing globally certified safety technologies, the partnership is expected to strengthen consumer protection while promoting higher quality standards across the sector.

Among the innovations entering the market is SMARTAI™ Charging Technology, an intelligent power-management system that adjusts voltage and current in real time according to a device’s battery condition. The technology is designed to reduce battery stress and extend lifespan by up to 30 per cent compared with conventional fast-charging methods, offering safer and more efficient charging for smartphones, tablets and laptops.

Also featured is SmartGuard™ Temperature Safeguard Technology, integrated into MICRODIA’s charge-and-sync cables to continuously monitor operating temperatures and prevent overheating during charging or data transfer. The safeguard is considered particularly relevant in Nigeria’s warm climate and high-usage mobile environment.

Additional flagship products expected in the Nigerian market include the SMARTCube™ Nano 100W GaN wall charger, described as one of the world’s smallest multi-port chargers; an Intel-certified Thunderbolt™ 5 cable capable of ultra-fast data transfer and full power delivery; and a Qi2.2 25W magnetic wireless power bank built with next-generation solid-state battery cells for enhanced safety, higher energy density and longer life cycles.

Stakeholders say the collaboration combines MICRODIA’s global engineering expertise with MyHomeEtal’s local distribution network, logistics capacity and customer-focused service structure. Beyond product availability, the initiative is projected to encourage healthier competition, improve product authenticity in the market and help consumers reduce long-term device replacement costs.

President and Chief Executive Officer of MICRODIA, Louis Leung, described the partnership as a milestone for Nigeria’s consumer electronics industry, noting that the company aims to elevate safety standards, deliver reliable technology solutions and contribute to sustainable industry growth across Nigeria and the wider African region.

Chief Executive Officer of MyHomeEtal, Olawale Odu, said the collaboration aligns with the company’s commitment to bringing trusted global technology brands closer to Nigerians. He added that the partnership would expand consumer choice while delivering innovative products that provide lasting value for individuals, families and businesses.

Analysts view the development as part of a broader trend of international technology firms deepening their presence in Africa’s largest consumer market, where rising smartphone adoption, remote work, digital learning and mobile-driven commerce continue to fuel demand for reliable power and connectivity solutions.

With the rollout of MICRODIA’s safety-focused technologies, the Nigerian market may be entering a new phase defined not only by access to devices, but by improved protection, durability and long-term value for millions of users.
