The Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba, has called on Nigerians to go back to God.
He said there was need for everyone to turn a new leaf and seek the face of God, the author and the finisher of our faith. He made this known during the Easter Sunday service in Lagos.
While admonishing Nigerians, the prelate said there are lots of knowledge that we need to derive from the Easter celebration. He said Jesus came to bear our grieve, pain and sorrow.
He stressed that Jesus has shown us how to love unconditionally. Therefore, all Nigerians must love each other and their country because “we do not have any other country called Nigeria.”
He said that no matter the situation, all hands must be on deck. He said: “We must work together to bring out the glory of the old days back in our contemporary society and everything about Nigeria will come alive. And we shall all be blessed at the end of the day. Every Nigerian adult has a responsibility, which is to keep Nigerian together, for the youths unborn, and this is what we must hand over to our children.”
Also, Aba spoke on the essence of the celebration. He said that on Easter Sunday, every believer must be happy because Jesus Christ died and resurrected. He said if “he had not resurrected our faith would have been in vain. But because he has done it all, we are all happy. So, there is hope for every believer that on the last day, we will be with him in paradise.”
He also encourage the incoming president to first of all love the country because “it’s someone that you love that you will die for. He should see Nigeria as his treasure base where he is. He has to do much to put Nigeria on the proper stage, shape and all hands must be on deck, to assist him do this. For only him cannot do it from the federal government level to the local government level.”
He then stressed that he must fight corruption, which has eaten deep like a cancer in us. “The president-elect has to take the lead and Nigerians will follow him and then the ministers of God will pray for him to build this country to a greater height. The onus rests on us, ministers of God, to pray for him. If not, if he fails, we too have failed,” he said.
The Easter service at Methodist Church, Marina was witnessed by many congregants. It kicked off at 10am, with opening prayers and Christ is risen hymns, as the people sang with all their hearts.
