Argentina and Inter Miami captain, Lionel Messi on Wednesday became only the second player in history to score 900 career goals in official matches.
Messi, 38, opened the scoring in the seventh minute of Inter Miami’s home match against Nashville SC at Chase Stadium in the second leg of their 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup round-of-16 tie.
The forward controlled a pass inside the box from Sergio Reguilón and fired a low shot that found the net for his landmark goal.
Inter Miami drew 1-1 on the night after a 0-0 first-leg result, but were eliminated on the away-goals rule.

Messi entered 2026 with 896 career goals and had added three more before Wednesday’s match.
His full breakdown stands at 672 for Barcelona, 32 for Paris Saint-Germain, 81 for Inter Miami and 115 for Argentina.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner joins Cristiano Ronaldo as the only men’s players to reach the 900-goal mark.
The Portugal captain achieved the feat in September 2024 and now has 959.
