From Felix Ikem, Nsukka

The Enugu State Commander of Man O’ War Nigeria, Mr Gabriel Taiwo, has advised youths to imbibe discipline and hard work to actualise their potential and secure a brighter future for themselves.

Taiwo gave the advice in Nsukka on Tuesday during the investiture of their patrons organised by the Man O’ War Nigeria Eagle Unit in Nsukka Area Command.

He said that youths should not allow negative influences in society and in their immediate environments to determine their future, stressing that the organisation aims to instill discipline, and good values, as well as ensure physical and mental fitness that will help youths achieve their aim in the future.

“Discipline, good value, and mental fitness will go a long way in helping youths to achieve their aims in the future as well as being patriotic citizens.

“It is better to catch them young because being in an organisation like Man O’ War will mould their character and prevent them from committing crimes and being influenced by social vices.

“Our mission is to positively direct human resources towards rendering selfless community services and to create unique life experiences that lead to a new understanding and awareness of oneself,” he said.

The commander said further that the vision of the group is to create a nation where people and communities live together in peace, harmony, and mutual respect through sustainable community development that would accelerate the socio-political and economic well-being of the nation.

In a remark, Mr. Kingsley Obiorah the Acting Unit Leader of Man O’ War Nigeria, Eagle Unit, Nsukka Area Command expressed appreciation to the state commander and his executive for coming to witness the event.

Obiorah said that the patrons, Prof Charles Asadu, a lecturer at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, Mr Amachi Ezeugu, a retired US Marine officer, and Mr. Chijoke Obayi, an Enugu-based businessman were chosen because of their outstanding contributions to the society.

“The three patrons of this unit command are selected based on their outstanding contributions to humanity.

“Being the patrons of the unit will bring more good things to the organisation in all ramifications,” he said.

He expressed special gratitude to Dr Patricia Nnamani, the assistant State Commander Medics for his unquantifiable efforts to see that the is strong and vibrant.

“The unit will remain grateful to Nnamani whose efforts and commitment make today’s event a huge success, may God reward her abundantly,” he said.

The unit leader said that the unit was in dire need of a military set of bands and a bus or Sienna car to help the unit in its operation.

Obiorah said that the Man O’ War as a paramilitary organization would continue to assist law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order.

“We will continue to assist security agencies in maintaining law and order as well as provide training for the development of good leadership for public benefits.

“By calculating self-discipline, selfless service and community development virtues in our members,” he said.

In their separate response, Asadu, Ezeugu and Obayi said they were humbled and overwhelmed for the paramilitary organization to find them worthy to be their patrons.

They pledged that they would do everything within their capacities to assist as well as move the Nsukka unit Man O’ War to greater height.
