From: Desmond Mgboh, Kano Second Republic politician, Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, has paid a glowing tribute to the elder statesman , the Late Alhaji Yusuf Maitamam Sule, who passed on this morning in an Egyptian hospital He was at the age of 89. In a statement in Kano, Alhaji Yakasai lamented that, “The death of Alhaji Yusuf Maitama Sule, the Dan Massanin is a colossal loss not only to his family, his friends and political associates, but to the entire Nigeria nation. “A highly remarkable character, Danmassanin was a friend to all and enemy to none. We have been together since our younger age and our friendship has transcended to our children” he stated in the statement. “Even though we parted ways politically at a certain stage of our political life, fate brought us together at when Kano State was created where we brought together where we both served as pioneer members of the state executive council to the end of the lifetime of our administration” he recalled. “During the Second Republic, we were brought together by the Almighty God under the banner of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) under whose government we both served; he as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations and I as the Presidential Liaison Officer in the National Assembly. We remained as best of friends right from our childhood; never had we had any personal quarrel’ he remembered . “Externally jovial person, there was never a dull moment with Maitama” he declared while extending his condolence to the wife of the deceased, the children and his extended family. Alhaji Tanko prayed God to repose his gentle soul in eternal peace as well as grant his family, all his friends and associate the courage and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. |
