Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South Senatorial District, has raised fresh concerns over insider collaboration in the operations of Boko Haram following a recent attack in Maiduguri.
Ndume disclosed on Thursday during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today, stating that the insurgent group relies heavily on information from local communities, making attacks harder to prevent.
He claimed that Boko Haram fighters usually employ “hit-and-run” tactics, gathering intelligence before launching swift assaults.

“What they do is hit and run; they gather around and, most dangerously, get information from citizens too. They have information within the society,” Ndume said.
Ali Ndume also disclosed that the explosive device used in the Maiduguri incident was transported using a tricycle, commonly known as Keke Napep, highlighting the covert methods adopted by the terrorists.
“The bomb that exploded was delivered by Keke Napep,” he added.
The senator’s remarks come amid renewed concerns over security in Nigeria’s North-East, where Boko Haram and other extremist groups continue to carry out sporadic attacks despite ongoing military operations.
