MAGGI has reiterated the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring food quality and safety across the value chain, as part of activities marking World Food Safety Day.
The seasoning brand engaged key stakeholders, including suppliers, distributors, consumers, journalists, and digital content creators, through a series of interactive sessions aimed at increasing awareness of the processes and standards that underpin the production of MAGGI products. The initiative provided participants with firsthand insights into the journey from ingredient sourcing to the dining table, reinforcing the company’s commitment to transparency and stakeholder engagement.
Suppliers were introduced to MAGGI’s quality requirements and manufacturing standards, while distributors received guidance on best practices in product handling, storage, and warehousing to preserve product quality throughout the distribution network. Consumers also interacted with experts, gaining a deeper understanding of the ingredients, production processes, and expertise behind the brand’s products.

A major highlight of the programme was a guided tour of Nestlé Nigeria’s Agbara Factory, where journalists and digital content creators observed the production process of MAGGI cubes, from locally sourced soya beans to finished products. Participants were shown how Nigerian-grown soya beans undergo carefully managed fermentation and advanced manufacturing processes to achieve the quality and consistency associated with the brand.
The factory visit also showcased the link between traditional African food preparation techniques and modern food manufacturing, highlighting how fermentation methods used in MAGGI production are inspired by local seasonings such as iru, dawadawa, and ogiri. Participants further witnessed the rigorous quality assurance and food safety measures implemented at every stage of production, from ingredient sourcing and testing to packaging and distribution.
Speaking on the initiative, Category Manager, Culinary, Nestlé Nigeria, Funmi Osineye, said quality and food safety are shared responsibilities involving farmers, suppliers, distributors, retailers, consumers, and other stakeholders. She noted that continuous engagement across the value chain helps strengthen collaboration, improve understanding, and build confidence in the brand’s products.
Factory Manager, Nestlé Nigeria Agbara Factory, Talla Fall, emphasized that quality and food safety remain central to the company’s operations. According to him, the engagements offered an opportunity to demonstrate the expertise, care, and stringent processes that go into producing every MAGGI product.
The programme also featured an interactive cooking session, enabling participants to experience the practical use of MAGGI products while discussing taste, nutrition, quality, and responsible product usage. Through the initiative, MAGGI said it aims to foster greater transparency, strengthen stakeholder confidence, and reinforce its commitment to providing quality products that support consumers in preparing nutritious meals.
