A day after being shortlisted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Super Eagles and Atalanta star, Ademola Lookman has been listed for the prestigious Gran Galà del Calcio awards in Italy.

Lookman is nominated alongside Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martinez from Inter and Rafael Leao from Milan for the best striker’s award.

The nominees for Goalkeeper of the Year include Michele Di Gregorio from Monza/Juventus, Yann Sommer from Inter, and Mike Maignan from Milan.

For Defender of the Year, contenders include Theo Hernandez (Milan), Gleison Bremer (Juventus), Raoul Bellanova (Torino/Atalanta), Alessandro Bastoni (Inter), Denzel Dumfries (Inter), and several others.

The Midfielder of the Year category features notable names such as Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta/Juventus), Nicolò Barella (Inter), Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter), and Adrien Rabiot (Juventus/Olympique Marseille).

Coaching excellence will also be recognised, with nominees for Coach of the Year including Simone Inzaghi (Inter), Thiago Motta (Bologna/Juventus), and Gian Piero Gasperini (Atalanta).

In addition to recognising clubs, individual awards will also be presented.

The event will also honour referees, with Daniele Orsato, Marco Di Bello, and Marco Guida nominated for Referee of the Year.

Additionally, young talents in Serie B will be acknowledged, with Francesco Pio Esposito, Daniele Ghilardi, and Gianluca Busio nominated for Young Player of the Year.

The Gran Galà del Calcio is an annual event that celebrates excellence in Italian football, recognising the best players, coaches, clubs, and referees over the past calendar year.

The awards are determined through votes from members of the Italian Players’ Association (AIC), with winners set to be announced during a ceremony on December 2.
