London Rotary E-Club launches to drive global impact

The prestigious London Rotary E-Club in Action (LRE-CIA) has been officially launched, marking a significant step in Rotary’s evolution toward flexible, digitally driven service and broader global impact.

Established to meet the changing needs of communities both locally in the United Kingdom and internationally, the new e-club brings together professionals, leaders, and changemakers who share a passion for service but require more adaptable ways to participate.

According to its charter president, Caroline Kalu, the club was formally chartered on 20 August 2025, signaling the birth of a dynamic Rotary platform designed for inclusivity, collaboration, and action. This milestone was celebrated with a historic Charter Celebration and induction ceremony held on 6 February 2026 at the Lewisham Civic Suite, located in the heart of the London Borough of Lewisham.

The event drew distinguished Rotary leaders, dignitaries, and supporters who gathered to welcome new members and reaffirm the organisation’s commitment to humanitarian service.

Explaining the motivation behind the club’s formation, Kalu noted that London Rotary E-Club in Action was founded to expand Rotary’s reach through digital engagement, attract diverse members unable to attend traditional weekly meetings, deliver impactful projects across borders, and strengthen collaboration among Rotary districts and global partners.

She emphasised that the e-club model reflects Rotary’s adaptability in a rapidly changing world while preserving its core values of fellowship and service.

The club is firmly aligned with Rotary International’s seven areas of focus: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water and sanitation, saving mothers and children, supporting education, growing local economies, and protecting the environment.

Through initiatives anchored in these priorities, the e-club aims to address pressing community needs, empower vulnerable populations, promote education and human rights, and foster peace and goodwill in the UK and underserved communities worldwide.

Beyond celebrating its charter, the Lewisham ceremony also served as a platform to formally induct new members and recognise the diverse network of supporters who contributed to the club’s establishment. Attendees included Rotary district leaders, civic officials, traditional leaders, and community stakeholders whose presence underscored the collaborative spirit that defines Rotary’s global movement.

The club expressed heartfelt appreciation to all supporters and well-wishers, whether present at the ceremony or unable to attend. Special recognition was given to Rotary district governors and officers, civic representatives, and community partners whose encouragement and guidance helped bring the vision of London Rotary E-Club in Action to life.

With its official launch, London Rotary E-Club in Action positions itself as a forward-looking platform for service, innovation, and fellowship. By harnessing digital connectivity and cross-border collaboration, the club seeks to expand opportunities for meaningful engagement while delivering sustainable humanitarian projects.

As it embarks on its mission, the e-club stands poised to strengthen Rotary’s impact and inspire a new generation of service-driven leaders committed to building stronger communities at home and around the world.
