Laureatefield Schools, in Ojo council area, Lagos State, has emerged the champions of the third phase of the ‘National Spell It Competition’ for Lagos State.
The third and final phase of the competition was held on July 13, 2024 at Ayobo in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Laureatefield Schools was represented with 17 qualifiers from the primary school and four qualifiers from the secondary school and emerged the most qualifiers with nine pupils from the primary school and four students from the secondary.
Speaking on the epic victory, the Head teacher of the primary school, Mrs Ifeoma Achim said that the competition was very stiff as there were tough contenders from the other schools, adding that they had to compete in three different rounds with limited time to spell very difficult words.
However, she said that Laureatefield pupils and students were resilient and unrelenting in their efforts to make it to the final stage.
According to her, the school would be going to the final stage of the competition with four students and nine pupils who qualified for the final stage of the competition.
Her words: “We are grateful to God for this great win. It was tough, but we came back victorious. Congratulations to all our Laureates!”
In her contribution, the proprietress of the school, Maureen Okoro poured encomium on the teachers and students of the school for distinguishing themselves among all the schools that came for the competition.
She said that she is proud that the children lived up to the name of the school, Laureate, meaning honoured for achieving distinction or for winning awards.
She said that she is very optimistic that the school would do Lagos State proud by coming back with laurels at the final stage of the competition.
“Today is one of the happiest days in my life. In fact, my joy has no bound because of the honour that these children have brought to Laureatefield Schools. Just imagine being the over-all champion among all the schools that registered for the competition in Lagos State and now going to Abuja to represent Lagos State. I want to use this opportunity to appreciate my wonderful teachers for the hard work and dedication. I also at the same time appreciating the parents for their continuous support and I want to assure them that we will continue to live up to our name Laureate,” Mrs Okoro said.
