The late Secretary General of the frontline Igbo body, the World Igbo Congress (WIC), Dr Cyril Chinedu Nwaguru, who died in Michigan, United States of America, has been laid to rest in his home town, Amaiyi Nvosi, in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.
Speaking during a requiem high mass at St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Amaiyi Nvosi, Rev. Fr Maxwell Ukwuola reminded Christians of the need to live exemplary and worthy lives while here on Earth.
Rev. Fr Ukwuola said it was not the number of years one lived on earth that mattered, but the impact the person created.
He said some people will die and nobody will care, but that others will die and the whole community will greatly mourn their passing because of the number of lives they touched while alive.
Rev. Fr Ukwuola gave the instance in the Bible of when Dorcas died and the people wept profusely because of her good deeds.
The clergyman described death as a reality that does not knock on the door before coming, informing those present it was for this reason God told man to prepare and be ready because Christ can come at any time.
“Our time on earth is very short, nobody knows when death will come and that is why it is advisable we get prepared as not to be taken unawares.
“Man came into the world empty and empty he will go. As life is empty, there is no point fighting over property and other earthly things.”
