The Lagos State Government on Tuesday shut the popular Oshodi Resettlement Market after traders allegedly attacked officers and personnel of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps.

State Commissioner for the Environment, Tokunbo Wahab disclosed this in an X post.

The commissioner said the corps officials had visited the market to arrest hoodlums and beggars who vandalised the agency’s operational vehicles during an enforcement operation earlier in the day.

He said the traders prevented the arrest and attacked the officials on official duty.

The commissioner said, “Oshodi Resettlement Market, Oshodi has been shut down.

“Traders at the market attacked officers and personnel of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, prevented them from arresting hoodlums and beggars who vandalised the agency’s operational vehicles during an enforcement operation earlier today.”

The commissioner posted a video showing a detachment of corps officials at the market with many shops marked and locked.
