The Eze Ndigbo Shomolu/Bariga in Lagos State, Eze Anayochukwu Agha has condemn the recent rating by Economic Intelligence Unit that Lagos state ranked among the second worst city in the world in the world in terms of infrastructure.
In a statement, Eze Agha described the statement as retrogressive and far from the truth. He said with influx of millions of people into the city annually, it was a big challenge to meet the infrastructural demands of the large populations.
On some of the measures the state governor, Akinwumi Ambode has taken to address the challenges, Eze Agha pointed to the ongoing reconstruction of the Lagos-Badagry roads, Provision of affordable healthcare, construction of Modern bus terminal at Oshodi and Ikeja, Construction of BRT Lane Along the Lagos Abeokuta road and installation of median barrier along the Oshodi end of the Oshodi-Apapa expressway. He said such measures have further added value of the life of Lagosians.
While reminding the Federal Government about the need to give Lagos special statue, the Eze call on the National Assembly to revisit the bill once more in the interest of the residents.
While setting agenda for the new executive chairman of Shomolu Local Government area, Abduhameed Salawu, after his victory in the just concluded council poll, Eze Agha who is the patron of non –indigenes in the area urge him to promote good governance by reaching out to everyone with regardless to party affiliations. He said with contributions of Ndigbo towards the socio-economic development of the area, it was time to give them special recognitions through appointments in the affairs of the council.
