Following a deadly cult clash on Monday in Budo-Oke, Eiyenkorin, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State, the Kwara State Police Command has arrested three suspects. The clash resulted in the death of one person and the burning of several houses.

In a statement released on Wednesday, May 1, by the spokesperson of the Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, it was confirmed that three suspects were apprehended while police intensify efforts to apprehend other suspects involved in the violence.

The statement revealed that the clash began with an altercation between two suspected cultists, Adams Isah and Rasaq Olorunwa, both 28-year-old male residents of Budo-Oke. During the altercation, Olorunwa stabbed Isah in the chest with a knife. Isah was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following Isah’s death, suspected members of his cult group became violent, disturbing the peace and seeking revenge. Police tactical teams swiftly responded, apprehending three suspects at the scene: Sulaiman Ismail, Mamud Ibrahim, and Mudashir Saheed, all residents of Budo-Oke. A dane gun was found in their possession.

The PPRO stated that the suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Ilorin, for further investigation. A manhunt is underway to track down Rasaq Olorunwa and other suspects who may have fled the scene.

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara state police command, CP Victor Olaiya, emphasized that membership in any cult group is a serious criminal offense under the law. He assured the public that normalcy has been restored to the area and that stringent efforts are underway to ensure justice is served.
