The Senatorial Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for Oyo Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has called for the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage and greater recognition of traditional institutions, describing cultural festivals as important platforms for promoting unity, community development and the aspirations of younger generations.

Ajadi made the remarks on Saturday while attending the grand finale of the maiden Oja-Iwa (Ajaawa) Day celebration, organised in honour of His Royal Majesty, Oba Thompson Adeyeye Oyetunji (Olumole II), the Alajaawa of Ajaawa, at Ajaawa Township in Oyo State.

The two-day celebration, which featured culture, music, colourful displays and traditional activities, commenced on Friday, November 6, with the installation of chiefs, cultural performances and a novelty football match. The second and final day, Saturday, November 7, featured a carnival, cultural displays and fundraising activities.

Addressing the monarch and residents of the community, Ajadi congratulated the Alajaawa and the people of Ajaawa on the successful maiden edition of the cultural festival, while wishing the traditional ruler long life, sound health and prosperity on the throne.

He expressed confidence that the monarch and the community would celebrate many more editions of Oja-Iwa Day in an atmosphere of peace, unity and development.

The APM senatorial candidate also expressed appreciation to the people for the warm reception accorded him and members of his entourage, describing their hospitality as a demonstration of the community’s love and commitment to peaceful coexistence.

“You have honoured me today by giving me and members of my entourage a hospitable welcome. I sincerely appreciate the love and respect you have shown us.

“I pray that Almighty God grants His Royal Majesty long life, sound health and prosperity. The indigenes of Ajaawa and the Alajaawa will witness many more celebrations of Ajaawa Day in good health and happiness,” Ajadi said.

Looking towards the future of the community, Ajadi encouraged the people to believe in the potential of their children, assuring them that Ajaawa would produce prominent national and state leaders.

“Your children will be honoured, and your children will become President of this nation, Governor of a state and Senators in the National Assembly. You should believe in your children and give them the support they need to achieve their dreams,” he added.

Ajadi further used the occasion to seek the support of the people ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging them to vote for him as the senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District under the APM platform.

According to him, his aspiration to represent Oyo Central in the National Assembly is driven by his commitment to giving the people a stronger voice, promoting development and ensuring that communities across the senatorial district receive adequate attention.

The visit was hosted by the Executive Chairman of Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Area, Hon. Ojo Oluwaseun Adesoye, who welcomed Ajadi and his entourage to the historic community.

Other political leaders and dignitaries who accompanied the APM senatorial candidate included the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State chapter, Hon. Sikiru Oyedele Sanda.

Also present were Hon. Ebeneezer Olawale Alawe, Hon. Lukman Akinpelu and the Chief of Staff to Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Siyanbola Kabiru, among other political associates and community leaders.
