It was an evening of cheers to a quintessential Icon, Chief Kola Jamodu on that Wednesday 26 July. For 17 years on the board —with 15 impressive years spent as its Chairman— Nigerian Breweries Plc has hosted an elegant send-off dinner in honour of the boardroom titan, Chief Jamodu for serving the brewery giants with distinction. The exquisite dinner, held at The Jewel Aeida, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, was a well-deserved tribute to Jamodu’s meritorious and stellar contributions to the company and the country. The blue carpet ceremony, attended by top government functionaries, captains of industry, notable personalities, as well as families and friends, saw dignitaries in attendance give an outpouring of commendation and paying glowing tributes to Jamodu for his significant contribution to the company’s growth and business performance over the years.

Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos Deputy Governor, who represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described Jamodu as a man of immense wisdom whose ideas and input would be a reference point at this critical time that the Nigerian economy is facing turbulence.

Jamodu, a former Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, and holder of the national honour of the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) retired on 30 April. He thanked the former chairman of the company, Elder Felix Ohiwerei, for allowing him to join the board of the company 17 years ago. While paying glowing tributes to his wife, Funmi Jamodu, for her understanding and support, he also expressed his gratitude to all members of the board of Nigerian Breweries Plc that worked with him during his tenure, as well as all management of the company.

Jamodu’s dynamic leadership and footprints in the company’s history of Winning with Nigeria was further narrated in a documentary introduced by Mrs Sade Morgan, Corporate Affairs Director of the NB Plc. A significant highlight of the event was the ceremonial passing of the baton of leadership from Jamodu to the new chairman, Mr. Asue Ighodalo marking the beginning of a new era for NB Plc. The brewing giants MD/CEO, Hans Essaadi expressed the company’s unreserved confidence that Ighodalo will continue to build on the legacy of Jamodu and take the company to even greater heights.
