President Bola Tinubu has hailed the founder and Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc, Jim Ovia, for his contributions to Nigeria’s banking industry and economic development as the renowned banker marks his 75th birthday.

The president described Ovia as a visionary entrepreneur whose entrepreneurial drive, resilience, and commitment to excellence transformed Zenith Bank, from its establishment in the 1990s, into one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, with a significant presence across Africa, Europe, and other parts of the world.

In a congratulatory message issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said Ovia’s achievements had extended beyond building a major financial institution to advancing the growth of Nigeria’s financial services sector.

“Mr Ovia’s dedication, resilience and commitment to excellence have not only grown Zenith Bank into a banking behemoth but also helped the growth of the Nigerian financial services sector,” the president said.

Tinubu described Ovia as an accomplished banker and distinguished business leader whose entrepreneurial journey demonstrated the importance of innovation, discipline, sound corporate governance and long-term investment in national development.

He also commended the banking mogul’s contributions to digital infrastructure, financial awareness and inclusion, education, youth empowerment, philanthropy and human capital development.

The president particularly acknowledged his initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for young Nigerians to realise their potential.

Tinubu wished Ovia continued good health, strength, and more years of productive service to Nigeria and humanity as he celebrates the milestone.
