Kids FM 101.7 invites families in Lagos to tune in and discover a world of fun, education, and inspiration. Join us on this delightful journey, where every day brings new wonders for the ears and minds of our youthful audience especially today as we celebrate our children.
The foundation’s founder/CEO Mrs Joan Faluyi spoke passionately about the ongoing challenges of period poverty among teenage girls, emphasizing the need for accessible menstrual hygiene products and comprehensive menstrual health education.
Faluyi said CoolFM’s Kids Station 101.7 aims not only to entertain but also to educate and empower young listeners. By integrating social responsibility into its launch event, CoolFM has demonstrated its commitment to addressing important issues affecting the community.
‘Period poverty is a significant barrier to education and quality of life for many girls and women in Nigeria. Lack of access to sanitary products can lead to missed school days, health complications, and a perpetuation of stigma and shame surrounding menstruation.
“Through this collaboration, both CoolFM and the BlossomFlow Foundation are raising awareness about period poverty and advocating for lasting change. The foundation’s efforts to provide sanitary towels and educate girls on menstrual hygiene are steps toward eradicating period poverty and ensuring that no girl or woman is held back by her period.
She said that the event was a resounding success, with attendees expressing their appreciation for the initiative. “It’s heartwarming to see such support for an issue that affects so many of us,” said one mother at the event. “Receiving these sanitary towels means a lot to us and will make a significant difference in our daily lives.”
‘The positive response from the community underscores the importance of such initiatives and the impact they can have. By addressing period poverty, organizations like BlossomFlow Foundation are not only improving health and hygiene but also empowering girls to pursue their education and dreams without interruption.
“CoolFM and the BlossomFlow Foundation plan to continue their collaboration, with more initiatives aimed at raising awareness and providing support to those in need. The launch of Kids Station 101.7 is just the beginning of a series of programs designed to educate, entertain, and empower young listeners while tackling critical social issues.
Brand Manager Miss Comfort James distributed sanitary towels to girls and women in attendance. This act of generosity was met with overwhelming gratitude, as the recipients expressed their joy and relief at receiving these essential items. Many of the girls and their mothers highlighted how such initiatives are crucial in breaking the cycle of period poverty, which often forces them to use unsafe alternatives during their menstrual cycles.
“The event, held at Balmoral Event Center Federal Palace Hotel with the incredible host Omotunde David AKA Lolo 1 and her team, was marked by a significant collaboration with the BlossomFlow Foundation
